As per CDA (California Dental Association), upon arrival at the office, every patient is required to fill the COVID-19 questionnaire. If the patient or the accompanying adult has been tested for COVID-19 in the last 14 days, they must show a negative result for the patient to be seen.

Here’s When a Tooth Extraction Might Be Necessary

Extraction is the removal of a tooth because it’s medically necessary. A dentist will never remove a tooth just for the heck of it. It’s always done because there’s either something wrong with the tooth or a procedure requires that tooth to be removed. Here are some of the most common reasons Dr. Kavety will choose to remove a tooth.

Restoring a tooth is too expensive | Oftentimes the cost to restore a tooth to its function it quite expensive if the decay is extensive. Procedures like a root canal are two part and require the initial root canal along with a restoration. If you are unable to afford a root canal, a tooth extraction might be the best option. Once the tooth is extracted you’ll have a healthy mouth and can save up to replace the tooth a little later down the road.

Impacted wisdom teeth | Impacted wisdom teeth can cause numerous problems if left unaddressed. From crowding in the mouth to intercepting roots, wisdom teeth should be removed as soon as the doctor notices a problem. If left alone they can also partially erupt, which can make you more prone to decay.

You were in an accident | In cases where an accident occurred, it’s sometimes best to extract teeth and treat the more serious underlying conditions. It’s more important to heal a broken job then focus on teeth later down the line. Addressing immediate problems is the best order to treat people’s problems.

Spreading infection | An infection of the mouth is no joke. The further it spreads the more likely it is to affect not just your teeth, but also your soft tissues like gums and your bone. As bone breaks down the cost and extensiveness of restorations needed becomes much more expensive. Save yourself time and money by stopping infections at the start. Sometimes a treatment like a root canal isn’t as practical as simply extracting a tooth.
What is involved in tooth extraction?

Contrary to what movies might have you believe, tooth extraction is painless. We use a strong anesthetic to make sure you don’t feel anything during the procedure and offer sedation dentistry for those who are fearful of the dentist.

During the extraction process Dr. Kavety will make sure you’re good and numb. He’ll then cut into your gums and remove your tooth using a special tool. Once complete, a small suture will be put in place to prevent any bleeding.

After the procedure is complete you’ll be instructed on how to take care of the extraction site, including what to avoid eating, how to keep it clean, and how to limit swelling.
